Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead (2Tim 2.8)

Every Sunday is Resurrection Day, yet even familiar truths grow dull if we stop dwelling on them. Paul’s little reminder to Timothy—“Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead”—is the tonic our forgetful hearts still need. 1 Corinthians 15 helps us refresh that memory and trace some mighty implications.

1. What actually happened to Jesus?

His rising was not a simple “coming back to life” (like Lazarus, who later died again). Jesus experienced the first true resurrection—a permanent, bodily transformation into a form suited for eternity:

  • • Physical: flesh, bones, a beating heart (Luke 24 39).

  • • Recognisable, yet gloriously renewed—free of weakness, ageing, pain.

  • • Imperishable—a prototype of the world to come.

2. Why does His resurrection matter for us?

Resurrection Gift Scripture Everyday Impact
a. New Spiritual Life – we’ve been raised with Him now 1 Pet 1 3; Col 3 1 Temptations are met with the very power that brought Jesus out of the grave (Eph 1 19‑20).
b. Guaranteed Justification – proof our sins are paid in full Rom 4 25 Guilt and doubt meet an empty tomb labelled “Paid in Full.”
c. First‑fruits of our Resurrection – His body previews ours 1 Cor 15 20‑23 Every believer will receive an indestructible, vibrant body; sickness, ageing and death will be distant memories.
d. Unshakable Purpose & Labour – what we do now is not wasted 1 Cor 15 58 Ministry, workplace integrity, hidden acts of love—all ripple into eternity because the risen Christ reigns.

3. Living in the Light of Easter Every Day

  • Fight sin with resurrection power. You’re not stuck; the same energy that burst a sealed tomb is in you.

  • Rest in finished forgiveness. The verdict “Not Guilty” has already echoed out of the empty grave.

  • Look forward with concrete hope. We’re not spirits on clouds but embodied citizens of a renewed universe—eyes that never dim, knees that never ache, minds that never wander.

  • Stay immovable in gospel work. Because Christ lives, no prayer, diaper change, lesson taught or quiet act of service is ever “in vain.”

So—remember Jesus Christ, risen. Let that simple sentence reboot your worship on ordinary Mondays and bolster courage in the hardest Fridays.
